Homage Paid to Queen Ana of Romania

Wednesday, 10 August 2016, His Beatitude, Patriarch of Romania paid homage to Queen Ana of Romania. A delegation of the Romanian Orthodox Church was present at Peleş Castle of Sinaia, where the body of the queen was lying in state.

 

After a wreath of flowers was laid, a moment of silence was observed near the catafalque where the body of Queen Ana was laid. Then, the Patriarch of Romania transmitted condolences to the members of the royal family and signed in the condolences book.

The delegation of the Romanian Orthodox Church headed by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel also included:

–      His Eminence Teofan, Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina

–      His Eminence Laurenţiu, Metropolitan of Transylvania

–      His Eminence Andrei, Metropolitan of Cluj, Maramureş, and Sălaj

–      His Eminence Ioan, Metropolitan of Banat

–      His Eminence Iosif, Romanian Orthodox Metropolitan of Western and Southern Europe

–      His Eminence Irineu, Archbishop of Alba Iulia

–      His Grace Sofronie, Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Oradea

The Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church addressed a message of condolences at the passing away of Queen Ana of Romania.

According to the official website of the Royal House, the coffin will remain at Peleş Castle until tonight, when it is taken to the Royal Palace of Bucharest.

All those willing to lay flowers and pay last homage will have access Thursday, 11 August 2016, all the day long.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, 13 August 2016, 15:00 hours, in the nave of the new Cathedral of Curtea de Argeş.
