Presentation visit of the Ambassador of Israel to Bucharest at the Romanian Patriarchate

 

 

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, received the Ambassador of Israel to Bucharest, Her Excellency Mrs. Tamar Samash, on a presentation visit, at the Patriarchal Residence, on 10 February 2016.

 

The Ambassador thanked for the reception and expressed her joy for returning back to Romania on a new diplomatic mission, after 25 years.

 

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel wished every success to Mrs. Ambassador of Israel in her new diplomatic mission to Bucharest and appreciated the good relations between the Romanian Patriarchate and the Federation of the Jew Communities in Romania. In this context, the Romanian Patriarch mentioned the Judeo-Christian symposia (Durău, 1998 Iaşi, 2005 and Bucureşti, 2012) at which rabbis and other representatives of the Jewish tradition have participated. Issues of mutual interest were discussed during the symposiua and it was emphasizing the common heritage of the two monotheistic religions.

 

His Beatitude underlined the importance of the pilgrimages organised by the Basilica Travel Agency of the Romanian Patriarchate in the Holy Land, and also expressed the desire to intensify pilgrimages in order to facilitate a unique spiritual experience for pilgrims, and for a better knowledge of the biblical tradition. Mrs. Ambassador expressed the willingness of the Embassy of Israel to support the Romanian Patriarchate to proper organise and conduct pilgrimages in the Holy Land, by presenting the current life in the Holy Land.  

 

During the meeting, the European refugee crisis was discussed, a problem having an important religion connotation. His Beatitude also pled for the good understanding and mutual respect between people, as well as for the support of the refugees in Europe and in countries of the Middle East, so that the refugees could go back to their countries after the establishment of peace in the conflict areas.
