The Patriarch of Romania at the Solemn Event Entitled the „Decalogue – Basis of Justice”

Today, the Jewish Communities Federation organised at the Choral Temple of Bucharest the solemn event entitled the “Decalogue – Basis of Justice”.

The event was organised both on the occasion of the feast dedicated to the reception of Tora by Moses at Sinai Mount called Shavuot 5775 and on the inauguration of the Choral Temple of Bucharest after ample restoration works.

The manifestation convened central officials like the President of Romania, Mr Klaus Werner Iohannis, Mr Victor Ponta, Prime Minister of Romania, religious leaders and many personalities of the academic life and of culture.

Present at the event, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel delivered the speech entitled the “Decalogue – relationship of man with God and responsibility to the fellow beings”, of which we render a fragment.

“Christian Orthodox spirituality kept the importance of the Decalogue as guide for the human’s life in society, in view of salvation. Thus, the Ten Commandments of the Decalogue are included in the books of prayer of our Church, catechisms, Religion manuals or in the Guide of Confession. The Ten Commandments are the guide that we must use to find our way to God and to a just living. “In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3), because they help us understand that the true life is communion of sincere and generous love”, His Beatitude said.
