Today, 31 May 2014, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, arrived in the capital city of Albania. From 31 May – 2 June 2014, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church is paying a brotherly visit to Tirana, at the invitation of His Beatitude Anastasios, Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania.
Present at the event, Aurel Moisiuc, the reporter of Trinitas Radio station offered some more information: 'The visit of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel began short time ago here, in Tirana, capital city of Albania. The Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church was met by a group of hierarchs of the Autocephalous Church of Albania together with His Beatitude Anastasios, Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and All Albania. The visit to Albania is occasioned by the consecration of the National Cathedral of Albania dedicated to the Resurrection of the Lord. It is an imposing church built in 12 years. The place of worship includes a complex of buildings which hosts conference halls, the Holy Synod Library, refectories and the seat of the Archdiocese of Tirana as well as the seat of the Holy Synod. The climax of the feast will be tomorrow, when eight Primates of Orthodox Churches will consecrate the National Cathedral of the Albanese faithful from all over the world'.
Tomorrow, 1 June 2014, the Patriarch of Romania and other Primates of Sister Orthodox Churches will celebrate the consecration service of the new Archiepiscopal Cathedral of the Resurrection of the Lord, and the Divine Liturgy. Monday, 2 June 2014, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will meet the president of Albania Republic, president the Albanian Parliament, the prime minister of the Albanian Government and the mayor of Tirana.
The delegation of the Romanian Orthodox Church which also includes His Eminence Ciprian, Archbishop of Buzau and Vrancea will return to Bucharest on 2 June, in the evening.
