WCC General Secretary invites the Primates of the Orthodox Churches to Bossey Institute

The Primates of the Orthodox Churches visited Tuesday, 26 January 2016, the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey.

Tuesday evening, the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), Rev. dr. Olav Fykse Tveit, offered a festive dinner for the participants to the Pan-Orthodox Synaxis held in Chambésy-Geneva. At the invitation of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the Romanian Patriarch delivered a speech in the opening of the reception. We note that His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel was a lecturer of the Institute for 8 years (1980-1988), and a deputy director of the Institute of Bossey, during 1986-1988.

His Beatitude addressed thanks on behalf of all the guests to Olav Fykse Tveit, and emphasized that the Institute “has had and still has today a particular significance for the education of young people, for the inter-Christian dialogue, for the meetings of clergy and lay people coming from all the Churches involved in promoting the unity of Christendom”.

Patriarch Daniel also referred to the fact that many students of the Institute have become hierarchs, priests, professors or lay missionaries of the Orthodox Church.
