Synodal Commissions

For the study and formulation of proposals on matters to be submitted for deliberation, The Holy Synod elects, from among its members, four synodal commissions. Each commission is chaired by a metropolitan and has a rapporteur. The other metropolitans serve as co-chairs of the commissions to which they are assigned by the Holy Synod.
  •  Pastoral, Monastic, and Social Commission;
  • Theological, Liturgical, and Educational Commission;
  • Canonical, Legal, and Disciplinary Commission;
  • Commission for External Communities, Inter-Orthodox, Inter-Christian, and Interreligious Relations.

The Holy Synod decides whether a matter should be examined jointly by two or more commissions (Art. 15 of the Statute).
