Eight Primates Of Orthodox Churches Celebrated The Divine Liturgy In The New Cathedral Of Tirana

 

Today, 1 June 2014, eight Primates of Orthodox Churches celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the new national Orthodox cathedral of Tirana, Albania.

 

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Holiness Bartholomew, Ecumenical Patriarch, His Beatitude Teofil III, Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Irineu, Patriarch of Serbia, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, His Beatitude   Hrisostom, Archbishop of Cyprus, His Beatitude Ieronim, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Sava of Poland, His Beatitude Anastasie, Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and All Albania, assisted by a group of hierarchs, priests and deacons of the present delegations.

 

The Romanian delegation also included His Eminence Ciprian, Archbishop of Buzau and Vrancea.

 

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated after the consecration service of the new cathedral of the Resurrection of the Lord of Tirana. The ensemble of the new Cathedral of the Resurrection of the Lord situated in the heart of Tirana, and the chapel of the Nativity of the Lord, belfry and Synodal Centre, represent the symbol of the revival of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania from the scratch.

 

From 31 May – 2 June 2014, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, pays a brotherly visit to Tirana, at the invitation of His Beatitude Anastasios, Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania, on the occasion of the consecration of the new Archiepiscopal Cathedral of the Resurrection of the Lord. The visit to the capital city of Albania will end on 2 June 2014, when protocol meetings are scheduled with His Excellency Bujar Nishani, President of Albania Republic, with Mr Ilir Ameta, President of the Albanian Parliament, as well as with Mr Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania.
