On 16 December 2014, 19.00 hours, the traditional carols concert entitled “Sunrise from high above” took place at the National Opera House of Bucharest, with the blessing of and in the presence of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania.
This year, the concert was performed by the “Symbol” chorus of children and young people of the Romanian Patriarchate, by “Cantus Domini” men’s chorus of the Orthodox Theological Students’ Association, and by the “Nicolae Lungu” mixed chorus of the Romanian Patriarchate.
To end with the concert, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel awarded the order of the “Brancovean Saints Martyrs” for lay persons to Mr Razvan Ioan Dinca, director of the National Opera House of Bucharest.
Then, the Patriarch of Romania addressed those present a blessing message entitled the “Genius of the Romanian Carols – theological depth of the content and simplicity of the form”.
On the feast of Saint Daniel the Prophet (17 December 2014), the Patriarch of Romania received a basket of flowers on the occasion of his name day.
Members of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, collaborators of the Patriarchal Administration and of the Archdiocese of Bucharest from the central and local State Administration, representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, members of the Standing Meetings of the Church National Council and of the Eparchial Council of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, professors of the “Patriarch Justinian” Faculty of Orthodox Theology and of the Orthodox Theological Seminary of Bucharest, partners and supporters of Basilica Press Centre attended the concert.
