Ambassador of Greece in Bucharest on a Visit to the Romanian Patriarchate

 

On 21 January 2015, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received, at the Patriarchal Residence, the visit of His Excellency Mr Grigorios Vassiloconstandakis, Ambassador of Greece in Romania.

 

His Excellency thanked for reception and asked for the blessing of the Patriarch of Romania at the beginning of the New Year 2015. Then, Mr Ambassador mentioned the efforts of the Greek authorities for overcoming the extended economical crisis and underlined the social-philanthropic activity of the Church of Greece for helping the poor families of Greece during this difficult period.

 

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel emphasised the traditional relations of fraternity between the two sister Orthodox Churches and appreciated the way in which the Church of Greece sustains the hope and cultivates the Greek solidarity for overcoming the effects of the economical crisis under the wise leadership of His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronim of Athens and All Greece.

 

The Patriarch of Romania underlined the growth every year of the number of Romanian pilgrims to the holy places of Greece and mentioned the intention of Basillica Travel Pilgrimage Agency of the Romanian Patriarchate to intensify the organisation of pilgrimages to the celebration of the dedication days of some important monasteries of Greece (Saint Hierarch Spiridon, Saint Hierarch Nectarie, Saint John the Russian, Saint Efrem the New etc.).

 

Mr Ambassador expressed the desire to visit monasteries and churches of Romania, as well as his willingness to sustain the pilgrimage programmes of the Romanian Patriarchate to Greece.
