Ambassador Of The Russian Federation On A Visit To The Romanian Patriarchate

On 10 June 2015, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received, at his Patriarchal residence, His Excellency Mr Oleg Makghinov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Romania.

Ambassador Oleg Makghinov thanked for reception and expressed his hope to intensify, at international level, the collaboration between the factors in charge with the promotion of peace and stability in the world. In this sense, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation appreciated the important role of the Churches through the spiritual values that they share for keeping a climate of peace and good understanding among nations. Mr Ambassador Oleg Malghinov underlined the good relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Romanian Orthodox Church and mentioned the need to manifest solidarity with Christian communities living in conflict zones in various parts of the world.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel emphasised the continuity of the fraternal relations between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Russian Orthodox Church based on the truth of faith and on the Christian values always confessed, especially in today’s world in such a deep spiritual crisis. The Patriarch of Romania appreciated the importance of sustaining and encouraging the cooperation and dialogue by the religious cults in order to solve disagreements and promote social peace and good understanding among communities of various religious faiths. His Beatitude appreciated the collaboration of the religious cults recognised in our country, united in the Consultative Council of the Religious Cults of Romania, both for maintaining a climate of social peace, and for protecting life, human dignity, traditional family and religious education. The Patriarch of Romania underlined both the important involvement of the lay persons in the mission of the Church today and the present methods of pastoral service, in order to achieve a more intense promotion of the Christian values in society. In this sense, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel referred to the recent involvement of the laics in sustaining the religion class in the public education in Romania.
