Condolatory Message of the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte

nov3mcpnbHis Beatitude Daniel,

Patriarch of Romania

Your Beatitude,

Beloved Brother in Christ and Concelebrant!

In this painful moment when we were deeply grieved to learn about the fire tragedy at a night club in Bucharest, one which brought to an early ending of the life of tens of young people and made the brotherly Romanian people lost in deep sorrow, we on our own behalf and on behalf of the clergymen an the laymen of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church offer most sincere condolence to you and to the relatives of the perished men and to all other victims in this tragic incident.

There is great truth in the words: Whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it (1 Cor. 12:26), and therefore we cannot stay without feeling sympathy to the grief of our beloved sister, the Romanian Orthodox Church, which she is suffering now because of the unexpected departure from this life of some of her children. We are adding to your prayers our own prayers too, praying to the merciful God that He would forgive all the willing or unwilling trespasses of the perished men and accept them in the abode of the just where there is no pain, no grief, no sigh but an eternal life.

We pray that God, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation (2 Cor. 1:3-4), would comfort all who are sorrowful and grant quick return to health of the sufferers.

NEOPHYTE, Patriarch of Bulgaria
