Consecration of the Chapel of „C.I. Parhon” National Institute of Endocrinology of Bucharest

Today, 11 June 2015, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel consecrated the chapel of “C.I.Parhon” National Institute of Endocrinology of Bucharest. Besides His Beatitude, His Grace Timotei Prahoveanul, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest concelebrated, together with priests and deacons. The chapel is dedicated to Saints Emperors Constantine and Helen and to Saint Hierarch Luke, Archbishop of Crimea.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel delivered a speech in which he underlined the importance of the Church for the people’s salvation, having been the place where they can get the forgiveness of their sins: “The consecration of a church also shows us, through the religious service celebrated, what we get in the Church. The first Gospel read when we surround the place of worship says that Christ, the Lord, entitled Saint Peter the Apostle and all the Saints Apostles to retain and forgive the sins, namely to forgive the sins and to retain them for a while, forbidding the one who is not prepared yet, to be baptised and communicated. This is the significance of the word to retain. To forgive means to give the forgiveness of the sins in the name of Christ. The Church is the only institution of the world where sins are forgiven”.

To end with the consecration of the church, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel raised parish priest Gheroghe Oprea to the rank of iconom stavrofor and awarded several diplomas and distinctions to the persons who helped with the construction and adornment of the place of worship. Thus, His Beatitude awarded the order of “Saints Emperors Constantine and Helen” to family of Prof Dr Constantine and Mariana-Steliana Dumitrache; the Order of “Maria Brancoveanu Cross” to Univ. Lecturer Dr Diana Loreta Paun; homage diploma and medal of “Saint John Chrysostom” to: Andrei Chiliman, mayor of District I of Bucharest; family dr Mircea Vasile and Adina Ghemegian; family architect Dragos and Corina Neamtu; dr Dumitru Ioachim; dr Serghei Gorbacevski; assistant chief Ioana Negoescu; Worthiness Diploma of the image of Saint Dimitrios the New, Protector of Bucharest, to: Valentin Saftoiu; family Marius Valentin and Anne-Marie Vaduva, Sorin Greu and painter Sorin Efros.

His Beatitude gave a blessing cross and books of rite to the church consecrated today and small icons of Saint Hierarch Luke, Archbishop of Crimea to the faithful present.

The parish priest offered, in his turn, the Patriarch of Romania a fresco icon of Saints Emperors Constantine and Helene, the book of the New Testament and Psalms bound in leather and a bunch of flowers. Parhon” National Institute of Endocrinology of Bucharest, the President of Romania, Mr Klaus Werner Iohannis conveyed a congratulatory message through Mrs Diana Paun, state counsellor in the Department of public heath – Presidential Administration.
