French Pilgrims on a Visit to the Romanian Patriarchate

Today, 26 May 2015, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church received the visit of a group of pilgrims from the French region of Nantes. They are going on a pilgrimage to the monasteries and churches in the South of Romania.

During the meeting, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel spoke about the importance of a pilgrimage and thanked them for the good collaboration with the Romanian Orthodox parish of Nantes: “They offer us a chapel where the Romanian Orthodox parish serves in Nantes, but this chapel is a temporary one because the Romanian Orthodox community of the city wants to build a church, encouraging the Romanians over there to build this church in French-Romanian style”.

The group of pilgrims offered His Beatitude Daniel an album presenting the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul of Nantes.

“Thank you very much for this very beautiful book. It will be very useful for the future cathedral that we are going to build here, in Bucharest, because the present cathedral is too small. The architectural plan of the new cathedral presents a synthesis between the Byzantine elements inside and Western ones outside”, His Beatitude said.

To end with the visit, the French pilgrims received on behalf of the Patriarch of Romania a DVD made by Trinitas TV entitled the Joy Holl and an icon of Saint Dimitrios the New, Protector of Bucharest.
