The members of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church gathered Thursday, 14 January 2016, in working session at the Patriarchal Residence in Bucharest.
During the meeting, they have discussed different aspects regarding the Synaxis of the Primates of the Orthodox Churches that will take place later this month.
“The Holy Synod was gathered in order to inform its members on the future event that will take place from 21 to 28 January 2016 at the Conference Centre of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Chambésy, near Geneva, namely the Synaxis of the Primates of the Orthodox Churches. This Synaxis aims at evaluating and validating the texts that will be forwarded for debate and approval to the future Pan-orthodox Synod that will take place around the feast of Pentecost of this year, in the month of June. The activity of evaluating and validating the texts is extremely important and that is why it is compulsory for the Holy Synod to mandate the delegation of our Church to participate there and to ensure the proper conduct of the works of the Synaxis” the Romanian Patriarch said.
Talks on the activities of the Church carried out home and abroad were held.
“In a secularized society, which is more and more hostile to the Church, we have to intensify the spiritual life, the co-responsibility and the co-operation between clergymen and the faithful. We need more prayer and more common action, while, at the same time, we have to accomplish our ministry of preaching the Gospel of Christ, to confess our faith in Christ and to convey to the present and future generations the loving light of the Most Holy Trinity shown to the entire humanity”, His Beatitude said.
