BIOGRAPHICAL DATA

• He was born on 29 May 1963, son of parents Metodie and Teodora Telembici, in Hârbovăț, Anenii Noi rayon (former Tighina county). He was baptized Anatol.

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• 1970-1980 – attended the secondary school of general education in the village of Harbovăvets, Anenii Noi rayon;
• 1981-1987 – studies at the Faculty of Hygiene and Epidemiology at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu” in Chișinău (Republic of Moldova);
• 1987-1990 – Hygienist-epidemiologist at the Sanitary-Epidemiologic Unit of Anenii Noi, Anenii Noi rayon (Republic of Moldova);
• 1990-1994 – studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Dumitru Stăniloae” of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Jassy;
• 1995 – as a representative of the Metropolis of Bessarabia (together with Vlad Cubreacov and Elisei Secrieru), participates in the lawsuit filed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova at the Court of Appeal of the Republic of Moldova, for the admission of the case as legal;
• 1995-1999 – Editor-in-Chief of the Alfa și Omega Journal, Chișinău (Republic of Moldova);
• 1995-1999 – he was a counsellor of the Metropolis of Bessarabia for theological education as a member of the Committee of the Metropolis of Bessarabia for the selection of candidates from the Republic of Moldova for theological studies (seminary and faculty) within the Romanian Patriarchate;
• 1997-2001 – co-petitioner at the European Court of Human Rights (Strasbourg, France) in the case “Metropolis of Bessarabia and Others vs. Republic of Moldova”;
• 1998 – studies Theology and Ecumenism at the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey-Geneva (Switzerland);
• 1999-2006 – teaches History of Ancient Christian Literature at the Faculty of History and Ethnopedagogy of the State Pedagogical University “Ion Creangă” in Chișinău (Republic of Moldova);
• 2003-2006 – Teaches the course of Moral-Spiritual Education at the Faculty of Pedagogy of the State Pedagogical University “Ion Creangă” in Chișinău;
• 6 January 2011 – was tonsured into monasticism by His Eminence Petru, Metropolitan of Bessarabia and Exarch of the Plains (Plaiurilor), having as godfather Arch. Vitalie Danciu, abbot of Golia Monastery in Jassy, at the Metropolitan Chapel “St. John the Theologian” in Chișinău;
• 7 January 2011 – was ordained hieromonk by His Eminence Petru, Metropolitan of Bessarabia and Exarch of the Lands (Plaiurilor), at the Metropolitan Chapel of St. John the Theologian in Chișinău;
• 4 March 2012 – ordained a hieromonk by His Eminence Petru, Metropolitan of Bessarabia and Exarch of the Lands (Plaiurilor), at the Monastery of St. Theodora from Sihla and St. Theodore Tiron in the village of Ulmu, Ialomeni district;
• 2014 – ordained as an archimandrite by His Eminence Petru, Metropolitan of Bessarabia and Exarch of the Lands, at the chapel of St. Great Martyr George in Bucharest;
• 22 May 2014 – elected Assistant-Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chișinău by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, with the title of Orhei, and on 24 May 2014 ordained by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest;
• 24 May 2018 – elected Bishop of Bălți by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
