BIOGRAPHICAL DATA

• He was born on 24 June 24 1981, son of Constantin and Elena Luchian, in Dornești, Suceava County. He was baptized Ioan-Daniel.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• 1987-1995 – he is a pupil at the Elementary School in his native Dornești, Suceava County;
• 1995-2000 – Attends the Orthodox Theological Seminary “St. Metropolitan Dosoftei” in Suceava;
• 2000-2004 – attends undergraduate courses at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Dumitru Stăniloae” in Jassy, Pastoral Department, completed by the submission of the thesis entitled Paternitate și filiație duhovnicească în Ortodoxie. Continuitate și înnoire (Paternity and Spiritual Filiation in Orthodoxy. Continuity and Renewal), under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Ioan-Cristinel Teșu;
• 19 July 2004 – he enters the Monastery of Sihăstria Putnei, Suceava County;
• 18 December 2005 – he is tonsured into monasticism, receiving the name Damaschin;
• 25 March 2006 – ordained hierodeacon by His Grace Calinic Botoșăneanul, Assistant-Bishop of the Archdiocese of Jassy;
• 28 April 2006 – ordained a hieromonk by His Eminence Pimen Zainea, Archbishop of Suceava and Rădăuți;
• 2006-2008 – he attends postgraduate MA courses at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Justinian the Patriarch” in Bucharest, Doctrine and Culture Section, completed by the submission of a dissertation entitled Paternitate și filiație duhovnicească în scrisorile Sfinților Varsanufie și Ioan din Gaza (Paternity and Spiritual Filiation in the Writings of Saints Barsanuphius and John of Gaza), under the direction of Prof. Dr. Vasile Răducă;
• 2004-2017 – fulfils the duties of coordinator of the chancellery of the Monastery of Sihăstria Putnei, and from 2006-2017 also that of guide;
• 9 November 2009 – elevated to the rank of protosyncellus by Eminence Pimen Zainea, Archbishop of Suceava and Rădăuți;
• 2009-2010 – attends courses in Project Management with external funding, organized by the Professional Association of Regional Management in Suceava;
• 25 March 2012 – ordained as an archimandrite by His Eminence Pimen Zainea, Archbishop of Suceava and Rădăuți;
• 2014-2016 – attends the training courses for trainers organized by the Centre for Training, Research and Innovation of the “Varlaam Mitropolitul” Foundation in Jassy and the Institute of Personal Development in Bucharest;
• 2015-2019 – doctoral studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Andrei Saguna” in Sibiu;
• 4 July 2017 – is elected Assistant-Bishop of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți, with the name Dorneanul (of Dorna), being ordained hierarch on 23 July 2017, by His Eminence Teofan, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bucovina, together with 9 other hierarchs;
• 18 December 2019 – defends his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Andrei Șaguna” in Sibiu, entitled: Dimensiunea mistagogică a Săptămânii Sfintelor Pătimiri. Elemente de antropologie duhovnicească (The Mystagogical Dimension of Holy Passion Week. Elements of Spiritual Anthropology), under the guidance of the archdeacon Prof. Dr. Ioan I. Ică jr.
