  • He was born on 12 February 1972 to Costache and Tasia Nica, in Berezeni, Vaslui County. He was baptized Vlad.

 

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • 1 September 1989 – enters the Neamț Monastery, Neamț County;
  • 1990-1995 – student of the Orthodox Theological Seminary “Veniamin Costachi” at Neamț Monastery, Neamț County;
  • 15 February 1991 – he was tonsured into monasticism by Archim. Mitrofan Băltuță and Archim. Calinic Dumitriu (currently His Eminence Calinic, Archbishop of Suceava and Rădăuți), at Neamț Monastery, Neamț County, receiving the name Emilian;
  • 16 March 1991 – ordained hierodeacon by His Grace Gherasim Cucoșel, Assistant-Bishop of the Diocese of Buzău and Vrancea, at Neamț Monastery, Neamț County;
  • 1 January 1995 – ordained hieromonk by His Grace Calinic Botoșăneanul, Assistant-Bishop of the Archdiocese of Jassy, at Neamț Monastery, Neamț County;
  • 1996-2000 – studies at the Faculty of Letters and Theology, specialization Theology – History, within the University of Ovidius, Constanța;
  • 1998-2001 – he is appointed high ecclesiastic of Neamț Monastery, Neamț County;
  • August 20, 1998 – he is elevated to the rank of protosyncellus by His Eminence Daniel, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bucovina, at Neamț Monastery (Neamț County);
  • 1999 – attends courses on the preservation and protection of the national ecclesiastical heritage, organized by the State Secretariat for Religious Denominations;
  • 2000-2002 – attends MA studies, specialization in Ancient-Medieval History, at the Faculty of History of the University of “Ovidius”, Constanța;
  • 2001 – follows the English language course organized by the World Council of Churches (Geneva) at the Orthodox Academy in Vilemov, (Czech Republic);
  • 2001-2008 – is a referent at the Diocesan Centre of Jassy;
  • 2002-2005 – is a spiritual father at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Dumitru Stăniloae”, University “Alexandru Ioan Cuza”, Jassy;
  • 29 February 2004 – he is elevated to the rank of archimandrite by His Eminence Daniel, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bucovina, at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Jassy;
  • 2004-2009 – assistant-professor at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Dumitru Stăniloae”, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, Jassy;
  • 2005 – follows an English language internship at the Community of the Resurrection, Mirfield, and Theology courses at the “Resurrection” Theological College of the University of Leeds (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland);
  • 2007 – 2008 – serves as President of the Monastic Consistory of the Archdiocese of Jassy;
  • 2008-2009 – serves as Cultural Counsellor of the Archdiocese of Jassy;
  • 15 July 2008 – defends his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Dumitru Stăniloae”, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, Jassy, entitled: Mitropolia Moldovei și Sucevei: Arhiepiscopia Iașilor în prima jumătate a century XX-lea (1900-1948)(The Metropolis of Moldavia and Suceava: Archdiocese of Jassy in the First Half of the 20th century [1900-1948]), under the guidance of acad. Emilian Popescu;
  • 2009-2016 – lecturer for the discipline History of the Romanian Orthodox Church at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Dumitru Stăniloae” of the University “Alexandru Ioan Cuza”, Jassy;
  • 2009 – exarch for the County of Jassy;
  • 29 October 2009 – was elected Assistant-Bishop of the Archdiocese of Râmnic, with the title of Lovișteanul (of Loviștea), being ordained on 14 November 2009 by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, together with His Eminence Irineu Popa, Metropolitan of Oltenia, and His Eminence Gherasim Cristea, Archbishop of Râmnic, at the Archiepiscopal Cathedral of Saint Hierarch Nicholas of Râmnicu Vâlcea;
  • 2011-2016 – lecturer for the subjects History and Spirituality of Byzantium and History of the Romanian Orthodox Church at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Craiova, University of Craiova;
  • Since 2016 – lecturer for the disciplines History of the Romanian and Universal Orthodox Church and Theological Culture in the History of the Romanian Orthodox Church, XV-XIX Centuries, at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology, University of Craiova and associate lecturer for the discipline History of the Romanian Orthodox Church at the “Dumitru Stăniloae” Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Jassy
  • 4 July 2017 – was elected Assistant-Bishop of the Archdiocese of Arad, with the title of Crișanul (of Crișana), being installed on 16 July 2017 by His Eminence Ioan Selejan, Metropolitan of Banat, in the Cathedral of John the Baptist in Arad;
  • Since 2017 – associate lecturer for the disciplines Problem of Knowledge in Christian Theology and History of Byzantium, at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Ilarion V. Felea” of the Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad;
  • Since 2020 – a doctoral lecturer at the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Ilarion V. Felea, “Aurel Vlaicu” University, Arad.
