BIOGRAPHICAL DATA

  • He was born on 15 November 1968, son of Ștefan and Anica Clinci, in the municipality of Brăila, Brăila County. He was baptized Ionel.

 

FORMATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • 1983-1987 – graduated from the Industrial High School No. 5 in Brăila;
  • 1991-1994 – graduated from Galați Technical University College (specializing in ships and naval equipment);
  • 20 November 1996 – was tonsured into monasticism at Putna Monastery by His Grace Gherasim Putneanul, Assistant-Bishop of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți;
  • 27 December 1997 – he was ordained hierodeacon;
  • 18 January 1998 – ordained hieromonk by Archbishop Pimen of Suceava and Rădăuți;
  • 1 October 2000 – was appointed hegumen of the Sihăstria Putnei Hermitage by His Grace Calinic Botoșăneanul;
  • 2001-2005 – graduated in Theology at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Sfânta Filofteia” of the University of Pitești;
  • 25 March 2002 – was elevated to the rank of protosyncellus;
  • 2002-2017 – initiated and finalized the construction of a monumental church dedicated to the „Lifegiving Spring and St. Seraphim of Sarov”, and consecrated three other churches and a chapel;
  • 2005-2025 – fulfilled his duty as abbot of Putna Monastery;
  • 31 December 2006 – elevated to the rank of archimandrite;
  • 2008-2023 – he was the editor of monographs, akathist hymns, photo albums and initiator of European programs of rural development and social assistance;
  • 2009-2011 – holds a MA in Theology at the Faculty of Theology “St. Andrei Șaguna” at the University “Lucian Blaga” in Sibiu;
  • has coordinated the construction of several bodies of cells, houses for pilgrims, workshop spaces and other annexes;
  • 2011-2012 – reactivated the “Nativity of the Mother of God” Hermitage in Marginea as a nuns’ monastery, which currently has 25 nuns;
  • established a home for the elderly, where 12 people are cared for, and initiated the construction of the “Sf. Nectarie” Centre for elderly care and medical recovery;
  • 5 February 2025 – was elected, during the session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, as Assistant-Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chișinău (Metropolis of Bessarabia), with the title of His Grace Nectarie of Bogdania;
  • 16 February 2025 – he was ordained hierarch at the Patriarchal Cathedral “Saints Sovereigns Constantine and Helen” in Bucharest, during the Divine Liturgy presided by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, together with several hierarchs of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
