BIOGRAPHICAL DATA

  • He was born on 15 April 1967, son of Nicolae and Victoria Condrea, in Constanța, Constanța County. He was baptized Corin-Nicolae.

 

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • 1973-1981 – Attended Elementary School No. 1 in Constanța, Constanța County;
  • 1981-1982 – student at the High School of Mathematics and Physics in Constanța, Constanța County;
  • 1983-1985 – student at the High School of Metrology in Bucharest;
  • 1985-1986 – military training;
  • 1988-1992 – studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Andrei Șaguna” in Sibiu, obtaining a licentiate degree in Theology with the thesis entitled Eclesiologia euharistică a Mitropolitului Ioan Zizioulas (Eucharistic Ecclesiology of Metropolitan John Zizioulas);
  • 1992-1994 – he teaches Religion in Bucharest;
  • 1993-1994 – PhD studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Andrei Șaguna” in Sibiu, under the direction of Rev. Prof. Dr. Ilie Moldovan;
  • 1994-1995 – pursued advanced studies at the Faculty of Roman-Catholic Theology of the “Marc Bloch” University of Strasbourg (France);
  • 1995-2001 – doctoral studies at the Faculty of Roman-Catholic Theology of the “Marc Bloch” University of Strasbourg (France);
  • March 1997 – ordained a celibate deacon and in April 1997 ordained a priest in the parish of the Nativity of the Lord in Stuttgart (Germany) by His Eminence Seraphim Joantă, Metropolitan of Germany and Central Europe;
  • 18 December 2001 – takes monastic vows at the Radu Vodă Monastery in Bucharest;
  • 20 November 2001 – defends his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Roman-Catholic Theology of the “Marc Bloch” University of Strasbourg (France), entitled Probleme de psihologie la Evagrie Ponticul (Problems of psychology in Evagrius Ponticus) under the supervision of Prof. Mariette Canevet;
  • December 2001 – July 2002 – serves as Secretary of the Patriarchal Chancellery;
  • 2 February 2002 – ordained as a protosyngellos by His Beatitude Patriarch Theoctist, in the Cathedral of St. Spyridon the New in Bucharest;
  • 9 March 2002 – is elected Archbishop of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Canada at the Special Electoral Congress held at Holy Trinity-Troy Parish, Michigan (USA), being confirmed by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church on 13 March 2002 and being granted the rank of archimandrite;
  • 14 July 2002 – is ordained and enthroned as Archbishop of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Canada at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Montreal, Quebec (Canada), by His Beatitude Teoctist, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church;
  • 30 October 2016 – is ordained Metropolitan of the newly established Romanian Orthodox Metropolis of the Americas and Archbishop of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of the United States of America by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, in the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest;
  • 30 April 2017 – is enthroned as Archbishop of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of the United States of America and Metropolitan of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolis of the Americas by His Eminence Metropolitan Nifon Mihăiță, Archbishop of Târgoviște, in the Cathedral of the Holy Sovereigns in Chicago (USA).
