BIOGRAPHICAL DATA

• He was born on 12 April 1972, son of Jenică and Mihaela Teodorescu, in Poieni, Schitu-Duca commune, Jassy County. He received the baptism name of Sebastian.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• 1979-1987 – attends primary and secondary school in his native village Poieni, Jassy County;
• 1987-1991 – attends “Dumitru Mangeron” High School in the municipality of Jassy;
• 1994-1998 – attends undergraduate theological courses at the “Dumitru Stăniloae” Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Jassy;
• 1998 – defences his bachelor’s thesis at the Liturgical Theology Department of the “Dumitru Stăniloae” Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Jassy, entitled: Sfânta Liturghie la Nicolae Cabasila. Aspecte liturgice şi duhovniceşti (The Divine Liturgy according to Nicolae Cabasila. Liturgical and Spiritual Aspects) under the guidance of Rev. Prof. Dr. Viorel Sava;
• 15 August 1998 – enters the monastic life at the Neamț Monastery;
• 5 December 1998 – is tonsured into monasticism by Archim. Clement Haralam, exarch of the monasteries of the Archdiocese of Iasi, at the Neamț Monastery, receiving the name Paisie;
• 24 January 1999 – is ordained hierodeacon for the Metropolitan Cathedral of Jassy by His Eminence Daniel, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bucovina;
• 30 January 1999 – is ordained hieromonk at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Jassy by His Eminence Daniel, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bucovina, in the church of the Three Hierarchs Monastery in Jassy;
• 25 December 2000 – is elevated to the rank of protosyncellus by His Beatitude Daniel, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bucovina;
• 2001-2003 – attends the courses of the Department of Practical Theology of the “Dumitru Stăniloae” Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Jassy;
• 2001-2003 – MA programme at the Practical Theology Department of the “Dumitru Stăniloae” Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Jassy;
• 2003 – defends his MA thesis within the Department of Practical Theology of “Dumitru Stăniloae” Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Iasi, entitled: Învăţătura despre Maica Domnului în imnele liturgice ale Mineielor (The Teaching about the Mother of God in the Liturgical Hymns of the Menaions) under the guidance of Rev. Prof. Dr. Viorel Sava;
• June – October 2000 – attends English language courses organized by the World Council of Churches at the Orthodox Academy in Vilemov, Czech Republic;
• August – December 2003 – attends an English language course at the Community of the Resurrection, Mirfield (Anglican Diocese of Leeds), West Yorkshire and attends theology courses at the College of the Resurrection (UK);
• 10 July 2005 – is elevated to the rank of archimandrite by His Beatitude Daniel, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bucovina;
• 2011 – 2017 – attends doctoral studies, under the guidance of Rev. Prof. Dr. Constantin Pătuleanu, finalized with the thesis: Reședința Patriarhală – Istorie, Artă și Misiune (The Patriarchal Residence – History, Art and Mission) within the “Justinian the Patriarch” Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest;
• 1 February 1999 – 1 February 2008 – Diocesan Secretary of the Archdiocese of Iasi;
• 1 February 2008 – 6 June 2014 – serves as Coordinating Patriarchal Counsellor of the Patriarchal Cabinet and the Patriarchal Residence;
• 6 June 2014 – 21 July 2023 – Patriarchal Protosyncellus of the Romanian Patriarchate;
• 4 July 2023 – is elected Patriarchal Assistant-Bishop with the title Sinaitul (of Sinaia), and consecrated bishop by His Beatitude Daniel, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, in the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest, on 20 July 2023.
