BIOGRAPHICAL DATA

  • He was born on September 16, 1971, in Lipova, Arad County, son of the priest Constantin and priestess Joița Mănuilă. He was baptized Cristian Constantin.

 

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • 1978-1982 – Attended secondary school in his native village Chelmac, Arad County;
  • 1982-1986 – attends secondary school in the commune of Conop, Arad County;
  • 1986-1990 – student at the Industrial High School No. 2 in Arad, Electrical Engineering Department;
  • 1990-1994 – studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Andrei Saguna” in Sibiu;
  • September 1994 – July 1995 – spiritual training and French language courses in the community “Le Verbe de Vie” in Aubazine (France);
  • 11 August 1995 – he becomes a monk at Hodoș-Bodrog Monastery, Arad County;
  • 13 August 1995 – ordained hierodeacon by His Eminence Seraphim, Metropolitan of Germany, Central and Northern Europe;
  • 13 December 1995 – ordained a hieromonk and ordained a spiritual father by His Grace Timotei, Bishop of Arad;
  • 1995-1996 – serves as a hierodeacon, then as a hieromonk and spiritual father at the Nunnery of St. Symeon Stylites in Arad-Gai;
  • 1997-2002 – he attends modern Greek language courses and MA courses at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Athens (Greece);
  • February 1999 – transferred to the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Hungary;
  • 7 August 1999 – elevated to the rank of protosyncellus by His Grace Sofronie, Bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Hungary, and appointed ecclesiarch of the Episcopal Cathedral in Gyula;
  • 6 April 2002 – he is appointed hegumen of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Hermitage in Săcal (Körösszakál), Hajdu-Bihar County, belonging to the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Hungary. After the elevation of the hermitage to the rank of monastery by the decision of the Metropolitan Synod of the Banat Metropolitanate on 22 January 2003, he was installed as Abbot of this monastery on 28 February 2003, by His Grace Sofronie, Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Hungary;
  • 20 April 2003 – was elevated to the rank of archimandrite by His Grace Sofronie, Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Hungary;
  • 24 January 2003 – fulfils the duties of Administrative and Cultural Counsellor of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Hungary and is appointed responsible editor of the Diocesan Bulletin, a diocesan periodical;
  • 11 March 2007 – is elected Bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Hungary by the Electoral College of the Diocese, under the leadership of His Eminence Nicolae Corneanu, Archbishop of Timișoara and Metropolitan of Banat, an election validated by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church in its session of 21 June 2007;
  • 8 July 2007 – was ordained and installed as Bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Hungary by His Eminence Nicolae Corneanu, Metropolitan of Banat;
  • 2009-2013 – doctoral studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Craiova.
