BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

• He was born on 10 April 1988 the son of Florinel Sorin and Stănica, in the city of Slobozia, Ialomița County, as the elder of two brothers. At Baptism, he received the name Valentin Mădălin.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• 2008 – graduated from the “Saint John Chrysostom” Orthodox Theological Seminary in Slobozia;

• 2013 – Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Theology from the “Justinian the Patriarch” Faculty of Orthodox Theology, University of Bucharest;

• 22 July 2013 – entered Sihăstria Putnei Monastery as a monastery brother;
• 17 December 2015 – tonsured a monk at Sihăstria Putnei Monastery;
• 2016 – Master’s degree in Communication and Psychological and Spiritual Counselling from the “Dumitru Stăniloae” Faculty of Orthodox Theology, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași;

• 26 December 2018 – ordained hierodeacon at Sihăstria Putnei Monastery by His Grace Damaschin Dorneanul, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți;

• 2019 – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems from the Faculty of Economics and Public Administration, “Ștefan cel Mare” University of Suceava;

• 6 August 2020 – ordained hieromonk at Sucevița Monastery by His Eminence Calinic, Archbishop of Suceava and Rădăuți;

• 18 June 2021 – elevated to the rank of protosyncellus at the “Saint John the New of Suceava” Chapel by His Grace Damaschin Dorneanul, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți;

• 2021 – Master’s degree in Economic Management and Administration of Ecclesiastical Units from the “Justinian the Patriarch” Faculty of Orthodox Theology, University of Bucharest;

• 2022 – studies and training placements as an Erasmus scholar at Sapienza University of Rome, the Pontifical Gregorian University, and the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum);

• 2023–2024 – studies and training placements as an Erasmus scholar at Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey, USA;
• 1 May 2024 – 31 October 2024 – served at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iași;
• 1 November 2024 – transferred to the Diocesan Centre of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Italy;
• 20 December 2024 – appointed serving priest at the “Saint John the Evangelist and Theologian” Episcopal Chapel in Rome;
• 20 May 2025 – appointed legal representative of the “Exaltation of the Holy Cross” Episcopal Chapel in Turin;
• 15 August 2025 – elevated to the rank of Archimandrite at the Diocesan Centre of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Italy in Rome by His Grace Siluan, Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Italy;
• 2025 – awarded a PhD in Economics – Management by the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, with the distinction Magna cum laude, for the thesis “Continuity and Renewal in Ecclesiastical Management. Performance Management in the Metropolis of Moldavia and Bukovina”;
• 8 September 2026 – consecrated Auxiliary Bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Italy in Moncalieri (Turin);
• 2024–present – pursuing studies in Eastern Canon Law at the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome.
